One hundred and forty six people have signed a petition calling for the council to bring in weight restrictions on Bury Road in West Ilsley.
One hundred and forty-six residents have petitioned for weight restrictions on Bury Road in West Ilsley.
Parish councillor Tim Pearey brought the petition to attention last night (Thursday). The call for action arose after a February incident where multiple HGVs damaged verges and pavements in the village, even knocking down a telegraph pole.
Pearey highlighted the danger, noting a pedestrian narrowly avoided being hit by a lorry that mounted the pavement. “Sometimes, when the A34 is disrupted, these lorries are wrongly diverted down this narrow lane, which isn’t suited for them,” he said.
