It’s for anyone who is struggling to apply for jobs or who is not even sure what jobs to apply for. We have helped people previously who have ... and are confident that with our support individuals will learn useful skills and understand better how to go about finding work.
Graft is a charity that supports people in West Berkshire to get into mainstream employment and find a job that really suits them, something that means something to them. ‘Survival Guide Employability’ is a 6-week course that will cover much of what is needed to start applying for work with confidence, which we cover in the first week! One of our participants in July 2021 said "I feel empowered [by the course] ... it has totally flipped how I think about job searching."
‘Survival Guide Employability’ runs every Wednesday from the 3rd of November to the 8th of December with an optional mock interview on the 7th week. Fully funded by West Berkshire Council, we have run the course before and participants told us they felt more confident after attending. There will be a small amount of homework to help prepare a strong CV and cover letter and we will be there to help further if anyone needs more support.
Searching for jobs is a job in of itself, so we teach people the skills they need to search effectively, know what they want and know what employers want too. Helping people to match the two together better, no matter what challenges people are facing, is our job.
