Frustration Grows Over Obstructive Parking in Bracknell's Turnpike Road

A neighbour has expressed her frustration over poor parking along a road near homes and businesses in Bracknell.

A Bracknell resident is frustrated with poor parking along Turnpike Road, which serves hundreds of homes and businesses, including the nearby Maxis business park.

Carole Forde, 63, from Tippits Mead, says unrestricted parking has led to 25 cars causing obstructions. "It’s been six months now. There are no parking restrictions, and I’ve contacted the police, who told me to call 101. There’s going to be an accident if this continues," she warned.

Forde believes the problem stems from The Knowledge Academy, a training provider located at Reflex building on Cain Road. Bracknell Forest Council is aware of the issue and has been in discussions with various parties, including Thames Valley Police.

Neil Mathews, assistant director of highways and transport, stated that the council had requested The Knowledge Academy seek alternative parking since November 2024. However, the parking problems have resurfaced, prompting the council to offer additional parking in a nearby venue.

Mathews noted that without restrictions like yellow lines, the council cannot enforce parking regulations. To address ongoing issues, the council is designing a parking restriction scheme for Turnpike Road. This will involve a statutory consultation process to inform the public and gather feedback before implementing changes.

In the meantime, Thames Valley Police will continue monitoring the situation.
