A major project for over 340 homes has been approved just south of Wokingham.
Full planning permission has been granted for a mix of private and affordable homes near the Reading to London Waterloo railway line.
In total, 343 homes will be built as part of the South Wokingham Strategic Development Location (SDL), which will also include around 1,400 homes, new roads, green spaces, and community facilities.
Approval has been given for 'Parcel R11' of the SDL, located off Waterloo Road, just south of the Eastern Gateway roundabout by William Heelas Way.
Wokingham Borough Council's planning department has given the green light to the detailed plans.
Of the 343 homes, 65% will be for private sale while 35% will be affordable, promoting a sustainable community.
The project, named 'Holme Meadows', will be developed in partnership between the Vistry Group and Kier Property, with construction starting this autumn and first completions expected by next summer.
Trevor Wicks, managing director at Vistry Thames Valley, said: "We are thrilled to have secured planning permission for 343 new homes and can now begin construction this autumn." He highlighted the importance of the project in meeting local housing needs.
Leigh Thomas, Group Managing Director at Kier Property, expressed satisfaction with the planning consent, noting that this development is crucial for providing much-needed homes and creating a vibrant community with quality infrastructure.
The developers aim to ensure the new homes meet local demand, focusing on quality and sustainability.
