Radio Sales Executive - Reading

We're recruiting in Reading!

Up to £32,000 a year (pro rata) + commission - Part-time (15-30 hours/week) - Permanent 

The role of the Radio Sales Executive is to attract and maintain advertising and sponsorship from the local business community (Reading, Wokingham and surrounding area).

This role is available for immediate start, or a date to suit you, depending on your existing commitments/notice period etc.

Company Overview

B Radio is a local Ofcom licensed community radio station, operating as a not-for-profit organisation, with offices in the centre of Reading and a studio at the Reading University Students' Union, targeting the under-40s in the local area (Reading/Wokingham)

Summary

We are seeking a dynamic Sales Executive to join our team at B Radio. In this role, you will be instrumental in networking and building relationships in the local area, identifying opportunities and presenting and closing the sale, then overseeing the radio commercial production process.

This is a flexible role, with between 15-30 hours worked per week, which can be spread out across the week as best suits you. There's an opportunity to increase hours over time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to increase revenue.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and sponsors.
  • Identify new business opportunities within the community to expand our reach.
  • Collaborate with the management team to create tailored advertising packages.
  • Attend networking events and represent B Radio in the community.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in media or advertising.
  • An existing network of contacts in the Reading/Wokingham area.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Previous experience with a sales CRM tool is essential

You'll be comfortable networking with business leaders, as well as cold-calling and building relationships with local small business owners, as well as attending local events to promote B Radio.

It is a requirement that you live in or close to Reading.

Experience in media sales, through radio, newspaper or online directories, would be an advantage, as would an existing network of business contacts. You'll be comfortable working towards set sales targets.
