Barbershop Uncut Stories is an innovative community-led theatre production that uses storytelling and live performance to open up honest conversations about men’s health, family, well-being and prostate cancer. Set in a barbershop, the production explores real-life experiences, myths and misconceptions around prostate cancer and other health issues affecting Black men. Through humour, powerful storytelling and relatable conversations, audiences are encouraged to think differently about health, recognise the importance of early detection and feel more confident talking about concerns. The production goes beyond the stage, connecting audiences with healthcare professionals through post-show discussions and Q&As, creating opportunities to ask questions and access trusted information. Following successful sold-out London performances, Barbershop Uncut Stories is now on tour and is coming to Reading Rep Theatre in October.
