The Western Road branch, which opened its doors in June, will be inflating its presence at Waitrose in Bond Way from 10am to 2pm, when its team of technicians carry out complimentary tyre checks over the course of the day.
The activity is part of Merityre’s commitment to the local community is it pledges to make the road network around the area as safe as possible, whilst positioning itself as an automotive retail destination that motorists can trust.
The activity has been organised ahead of National Tyre Safety Month which runs throughout October and it also coincides with another major investment, courtesy of an MOT bay which is now fully DVSA approved and in place, adding to Merityre’s full range of services including tyres, batteries, exhausts, brakes, air conditioning, repairs, and car servicing. As an introductory offer, MOTs will be priced at £29.95 with 50% off wheel alignments and air con re gasses.
The Waitrose checks, along with free tyre inspections throughout October, have been announced in light of recently released figures from TyreSafe, which estimates that 6.1 million tyres on UK roads are illegal or dangerously worn at any given time, typically due to having a tread depth below the UK legal limit of 1.6mm. In addition, the Department for Transport's Reported Road Casualties Great Britain: Final Results 2025 report revealed that the number of people killed or seriously injured (KSI) in collisions involving illegal, defective or underinflated tyres increased from 169 in 2024 to 201 in 2025.
Darren Smeeth, general manager at Merityre, said: “It’s been a highlight of the year to open our branch in Bracknell, which represents our 25th site across the southeast of England. We’ve tried to really immerse ourselves in the local community and be an automotive retail destination that motorists can rely on. We promised to go the extra mile to keep motorists as safe as possible when we opened, with the best possible advice and service at all times. Our Waitrose activity is an example of this, and we hope to be able to replicate it with similar events in the future.”
