Bracknell Labour Loses Two Councillors to Independents

Bracknell Labour is ‘saddened and disappointed’ that two of its sitting councillors have quit the party.

Bracknell Labour is 'saddened and disappointed' as two of its councillors have left the party.

Councillors Caroline Egglestone and Cherise Welch, who represented Bullbrook and Harmans Water & Crown Wood respectively, have become Independents and formed the Bracknell Forest Independents.

In a joint statement, they expressed frustration at the Labour leadership's lack of interest in their opinions, stating that the party's values have faded.

Bracknell Labour responded, saying: “We are saddened and disappointed by Cherise and Caroline's resignation. We put in considerable effort to understand their discontent. Now that they have made their choice, we wish them well.”

The group highlighted their achievements, including two new health centres, increased social housing, and £5 million for pothole repairs, emphasising their commitment to improving lives in Bracknell Forest.

“The council has become more transparent than ever, with most votes unanimous due to collaborative efforts,” they added.

Both councillors were elected on the Labour ticket during the all-out elections in 2023.
