Caffe Nero Set to Open in Reading!

One of the nation’s most loved coffee chains is set to open a new cafe in Reading town centre.

Exciting news for coffee lovers in Reading! Caffe Nero is set to open a new café in Broad Street, taking over the spot previously held by Coco di Mama, which closed in March last year.

Famous for its Americanos, mochas, and delicious deli offerings, Caffe Nero has been a staple in the town for years. The new location will be positioned between Sainsbury's and the Butter Market, adding to the bustling café scene that includes Pret a Manger, Gail's Bakery, Starbucks, and Costa Coffee.

Caffe Nero's journey in Reading has had its ups and downs, with previous locations in Debenhams and House of Fraser closing in 2020 and 2023. The café at the corner of Friar Street and Queen Victoria Street was also taken over by Black Sheep Coffee.

Before opening, Nero Holdings Ltd has applied for a pavement café permit from Reading Borough Council to create outdoor seating. A consultation on this application is ongoing until Friday, September 5, and locals can contribute by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.

Permits for outdoor seating range from £300 for up to six chairs to £500 for more than ten.
