Here's where to go walking around Crowthorne according to artist Vic Delaney and the Parish Council:
1. Simons Wood and Heath Pond - about 0.5 km from Crowthorne Station. Follow Duke's Ride west to the roundabout, turn right down the track between Wellington Avenue and Lower Wokingham Road and head into the forest. Simon's Wood keeps walkers away from the fast traffic on Wellingtonia Avenue, which is lined with stately giant sequoia trees.
2. The Ridges - 1.4 km. From Duke's Ride follow the sequoias or walk through Simon's Wood to the top of the hill, cross over the street and you're at this National Trust woodland that descends a knarled-tree slope - great for an adventure or a game of hide and seek.
3. Heathlake (Site of Special Scientific Interest) - 1.5 km. Follow Duke's Ride east, turn left into Ravenswood Avenue, go through the golf course and take one of the left-hand turns to Heathlake. There are heronries there. Will you spot a grey heron catching a fish?
4. Swinley Forest (SSSI) and bike trails - 2.5 km. Follow Duke's Ride east for 2 km, pass the top of Crowthorne Village at The Prince roundabout and Marks & Spencer's Simply Food, then take the track at the next roundabout right into Swinley Forest.
5. Wildmoor Heath (SSSI) - 2.5 km. Turn down St Francis Close, go through the black metal gates, bear left to the footpath, then after 1.3 km turn left into Edgbarrow Wood Nature Reserve. Follow the path under the pylons and power lines before crossing Sandhurst Road into Wildmoor Heath.
6. Ambarrow Court, Horseshoe Lake and the Blackwater River - more than 1 km. Turn down St Francis Close, go through the black metal gates, bear left to the footpath, then after about 750m turn right across the railway bridge before turning left to explore Ambarrow Court or continue straight on for Horseshoe Lake and the Blackwater River footpath.
