One of the main country routes into Wokingham, Easthampstead Road, has closed this week and will look very different when it reopens.
The stretch between the railway level crossing and Heathlands Road is shut until 2027. The towns new distributor road will cross just south of the railway, with the part of Easthampstead Road that approaches it turned into a cul-de-sac and Heathlands Road extended instead.
When the route reopens there will be no left turn from the distributor road onto Easthampstead Road towards the level crossing - except for buses. The level crossing itself will remain open for southbound traffic leaving Wokingham.
