Exciting Planning Updates for Local Supermarkets & Golf Club

This week’s Bracknell and Wokingham planning round-up features a supermarket changing its delivery hours and good news for Swinley Forest Golf Club.

You can find out more about each application by searching the planning portal of either Bracknell Forest Council or Wokingham Borough Council’s website.

SAINSBURY’S ARBORFIELD GREEN (PP/14385708)

Sainsbury’s in Arborfield Green has applied to make its delivery window of 06:30 until 23:00 every day permanent. The store, a focal point for many visitors to the new Arborfield Green development on the site of the old Arborfield Garrison at the end of Nine Mile Ride, originally had permission for 07:00–23:00 but asked for the extra 30 minutes to allow fresh food deliveries before opening.

The supermarket has been trialling deliveries in this earlier slot since August last year; the trial, in a mainly residential area, had been approved to continue until 28 February. Turning out of Sainsbury’s into Nine Mile Ride Extension can be tricky in the rush hour, though traffic is light at other times. The store told Wokingham Council it had not received any complaints about disturbance from deliveries starting at 06:30.

SWINLEY FOREST GOLF CLUB (25/00595/FUL)

Swinley Forest Golf Club in Ascot has been granted permission to install a new golf simulator. The 1909 course was designed by Harry Colt, who spread the 18 holes over gently undulating heathland three miles south‑west of Ascot, and described it as his "least bad course." Swinley remains unusually private, welcoming a limited number of groups and visitors only by prior arrangement. Note the club’s strict dress code: tailored shorts are welcome, but collarless shirts, jeans or trainers are not permitted.

DELL HOUSE, BRACKNELL (25/00066/FUL)

An application to redevelop Dell House on Cain Road has been approved. The owners may redevelop the existing office building and surrounding car park to build three commercial units. All the new buildings will be factories, industrial or office premises and will include parking, servicing, infrastructure and hard and soft landscaping.

MORRISONS WOOSEHILL (PP/14385708)

Morrisons on Woosehill Spine Road has permission to install new non‑illuminated store‑front signs advertising ‘webuyanycar.com’ on a temporary building. A exterior ‘pod’ will let sellers drop off vehicles; the fascia is for the pod rather than the supermarket itself. The pod is expected to occupy two parking spaces in the car park.
