An American chain burger restaurant in Reading has been closed and sealed off to clear the way for a fashion store.
A burger restaurant in Reading has shut down to make way for a new fashion store.
The Five Guys at The Oracle shopping centre closed two weeks ago as they moved to a new spot at The Oracle Riverside.
The space they left behind is now hoarded off, ready for Zara to expand its shop.
This information came from a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) notice on the unit.
The work will strip out the kitchen and infill the area to give Zara more room to relocate.
The notice explains: "Demolition works include the full strip out of Five Guys, including furniture, kitchen, flooring, and all associated equipment. There will also be the removal of the party wall between the units and parts of the mall ceiling and flooring nearby."
Zara currently occupies two floors at The Oracle, with women’s clothing on the lower level and men’s on the upper. The retailer will move into a unit that used to be House of Fraser, which shut its doors in October 2023.
This new unit remains sealed, with artist Epod’s work celebrating the Reading Festival still displayed.
