Greggs Drive-Thru Lighting Changes Rejected

A change in how a Greggs drive-thru operates along a busy road in Reading has been rejected.

A proposed change to the Greggs drive-thru on the A4 Bath Road in Reading has been turned down by Reading Borough Council.

The bakery, which opened in March after replacing the George & Dragon pub, sought to adjust the lighting at the site. However, the council rejected these plans, stating they would negatively impact the nearby residents and required full planning permission.

In other news, Abri housing association has received the green light to carry out land assessments on the site of the former driving test centre in Elgar Road South, Katesgrove. They acquired the site in June and can now conduct these assessments after demolition, which will allow better access for testing.

Additionally, plans for a new 50-space car park in Kenavon Drive have been approved, including three spaces reserved for disabled badge holders.

Finally, an application to legally confirm the division of a bungalow into two flats in Maker Close was rejected. The owner could not prove that the subdivision had been in place for over four years, failing to meet legal requirements.
