Join Wokingham Council as Allotment Assistant!

Wokingham Town Council is hiring an Allotment Maintenance Assistant to help look after eight allotment sites and more than 500 plots across Binfield Road, Gipsy Lane, Ifould Crescent, Latimer Road, Mulberry Grove, Ormonde Road, Penny Row and St Paul's Gate.

It's a part-time role: 12 hours a week across two days between Tuesday and Friday. Exact days will be agreed at interview. Pay is £13.50 per hour (£8,424 per year).

You'll need a full UK manual driving licence, experience with grounds maintenance, DIY and power tools, and the ability to work independently. The job includes some tenant contact and working with an allotment officer as part of a team that values environmental awareness.

A knack for horticulture helps but a willingness to learn on the job is fine.

Benefits include five weeks' holiday plus bank holidays and membership of the Local Government pension scheme.

Apply via the Wokingham Town Council website. Applications officially close at noon on Thursday, May 14, with interviews planned between May 19 and May 22.
