MP Welcomes Review of Curriculum and Assessments

The MP for Bracknell has welcomed a government-commissioned independent review into teaching and assessments.

The MP for Bracknell, Peter Swallow, has welcomed a new independent review into teaching and assessments commissioned by the government.

Speaking in Parliament, Mr Swallow expressed his support for the Curriculum and Assessment Review, which aims to ensure that teaching and grading meet the needs of children and young people.

He emphasised the importance of a broad curriculum and highlighted essential skills such as digital, financial, and media literacy. Mr Swallow stated, “I warmly welcome this Curriculum and Assessment Review, particularly what it says about a broad curriculum, about the importance of enrichment, and essential skills like digital, financial and media literacy and communication.”

He proposed a Skills Passport to help young people better showcase their skills for future employers.

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson responded positively, acknowledging Mr Swallow's commitment to championing children and young people in Bracknell. She noted, “I’d be happy to discuss his ideas further with him.”
