MP’s Fury over Family Farm Tax Betrayal

Newbury MP Lee Dillon has condemned the Budget announcement confirming that the Government will keep the controversial family farm tax in place, despite warnings of its devastating impact on rural communities.

Newbury MP Lee Dillon has slammed the Budget announcement that will keep the controversial family farm tax, despite its damaging effects on rural communities.

This decision comes after thousands of farmers rallied in Westminster, urging the Chancellor to scrap inheritance tax changes that jeopardise the future of family farms nationwide.

Mr. Dillon stated, “This is a shameful betrayal of family farmers across Newbury and West Berkshire. I met local farmers this morning, and they are understandably angry.”

He added, “We’ve been warning for over a year that these changes could lead to a lost generation of farmers. Treasured farms in our constituency are under threat.”

Dillon emphasised that these farms are crucial to the rural economy, food security, and the character of our countryside. He criticized the Chancellor’s minor adjustments, saying they will not protect family farms.

“I’ll keep standing with our farmers and push the Government to reverse this damaging policy before more farms are lost for good,” he concluded.
