A plan that would see more than 200 homes built on the outskirts of Bracknell has faced organised opposition from neighbours.
A proposal for over 200 homes on the edge of Bracknell has met strong opposition from locals.
The plan, submitted by Jordan Construction Ltd, aims to build up to 235 homes across five fields in Hayley Green, Warfield, right next to Bracknell.
Located near The Cricketers pub, which featured in ITV’s Absolutely Ascot, the site is bordered by Bracknell Road, Malt Hill, and Forest Road.
Since the application was lodged with Bracknell Forest Council last November, 51 objections have been raised, and a petition has been launched urging changes to the project.
The petition demands that road access is limited to Bracknell Road only, stating: “Hayley Green Village is semi-rural with a countryside feel.” They’re also asking for the retention of a field at the corner of Forest Road and Cricketers Lane.
Additionally, locals want the removal of proposed street lighting to minimise light pollution and keep the dark skies intact.
An e-petition created in December has gathered 16 signatures to date.
There’s ongoing dialogue between Jordan Construction’s planning team, local residents, and Warfield Parish Council regarding traffic management.
The development's masterplan proposes new junctions for vehicle access, but with no through-roads to deter rat-running.
Parking arrangements will be decided after outline permission is granted, while a technical note from planning consultancy Stantec noted bus stops are within a short walking distance.
However, Warfield Parish Council argues that the local bus service, particularly the 299 route, operates infrequently and won’t effectively reduce car dependency.
