Reading Borough Council has a new administration after three leading Labour councillors lost their seats to Green Party candidates in the borough election.
The changes were confirmed at the council's annual meeting at Reading Town Hall on Thursday 27 May.
Finn McGoldrick (Labour, Norcot) is now lead councillor for environmental services & community safety, replacing Karen Rowland, who lost her seat to Green Jacqueline Dominguez in Abbey ward.
Jacopo Lanzoni (Labour, Caversham) becomes lead for leisure and culture, the role held by Adele Barnett-Ward before she lost to Green David Clarke in Thames ward. Lanzoni won back his Caversham seat with 1,438 votes, a majority of 518.
Ruth McEwan (Labour, Church) is now lead for corporate services and resources, replacing Ellie Emberson, who lost her seat to Green Richard Walkem in Coley. McEwan was also made mayoral escort by Paul Gittings (Labour, Coley), elected mayor for 2026/27.
Paul Gittings gave up the lead for adult social care, which passed to Glenn Dennis (Labour, Kentwood). Dennis won back his seat with 1,014 votes, a majority of 239.
