New Parking Restrictions Proposed in Reading

Residential roads in Reading are set to get restrictions to stop drivers from parking near junctions and potentially cause a hazard.

Residential roads in Reading are set to impose parking restrictions to prevent hazards near junctions.

Double yellow lines are planned for the junction of Salcombe Road and Staverton Road in Whitley, banning waiting at any time.

Reading Borough Council utilises traffic regulation orders (TROs) to manage parking limits through its waiting restriction review programme, which assesses and develops solutions.

These restrictions are reviewed by the council’s traffic management sub-committee, which can approve, refuse, or modify proposals.

The double yellow lines for Salcombe Road are part of the council’s 2024A review programme, though they weren't included in the recent report to the sub-committee.

Additional proposed restrictions include double yellow lines at a blind spot on Windermere Road and near the roundabout on Northumberland Avenue, addressing issues during school drop-off times.

In Coley, double yellow lines are requested on Reservoir Crescent, while in Caversham, lines are sought to prevent obstruction on Willow View, which serves a new retirement home development.

Lastly, Norcot has requested lines in Dulnan Close to facilitate waste collection access.

Residents can request waiting restrictions through their ward councillors, who will bring the matter to the council for consideration.
