A plan to bring a Reading town centre pub that has been vacant for years back to life has been approved.
A plan to revive the long-closed Horn pub in Reading town centre has been approved. The pub, which has been vacant since June 2021 following the end of its lease, will be restored and two one-bed flats will be added upstairs.
Reading Borough Council’s planning department recently greenlit this project, which involves stripping the interior and reconfiguring the layout. Concerns over excessive partitioning led to a reduction from three flats to two.
In a separate update, flats have now been completed on the site of the former Charvil Car Centre on Wokingham Road, where five two-bed and two one-bed apartments have replaced the old building.
However, trouble is brewing for a homeowner on Great Knollys Street who built a laundry room covering their entire garden without permission, infringing on neighbour privacy, leading to its rejection.
Finally, permission has been granted for a new family-sized home in Emmer Green, with plans ensuring no negative impact on nearby properties, despite the loss of some trees.
