Plans for 236 New Homes Under Council Review

Tonight Wokingham Borough Council will discuss part of the Loddon Valley Garden Village along the M4 corridor.

Application 252138 would build 183 homes west of Hyde End Road, Shinfield, as part of the South of the M4 Strategic Development Location, which also includes Hall Farm. Access would be from Hyde End Road and Appleton Way, with the eastern section surrounding Tanner's Copse.

Officers describe the scheme as a high-quality, sustainable development and recommend conditional approval, subject to a legal agreement.

Also up for consideration is a plan for Old Forest Road, Winnersh (application 251421). New access is via the North Wokingham Distributor Road, which runs parallel to the M4 from the Marks & Spencer Simply Food roundabout on the A329. The application for 53 homes has been recommended for conditional approval.

Wokingham Town Council has raised concerns that the proposal "does not prioritise pedestrian access, there is no infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, and there are issues for parking and emergency vehicle access".
