Popeyes Seeks Late-Night Food Hours in Reading

A new American fast food chicken restaurant in Reading could keep on selling food and drinks until 5am in the near future.

A new American fast food chicken restaurant in Reading, Popeyes, could soon extend its hours to serve food and drinks until 5am.

Located at Reading Gateway Retail Park, the restaurant opened in August, taking over from the former Schmidt kitchen and interior solutions unit. It joins the first Popeyes in Broad Street, which opened earlier in February 2023.

The Reading Gateway site is described as a modern retail hub, easily accessible from Junction 11 of the M4, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.

Popeyes has applied to the Reading Borough Council licensing department to sell food and drinks from 11pm to 5am daily, extending its current hours of 8am to 11pm.

If approved, this would allow late-night deliveries through services like Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and JustEat. A statutory consultation regarding the application is now underway, and responses can be sent to licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for feedback is Wednesday, December 10.
