The main court in Reading is set for upgrades and improvements in the near future.
Big changes are coming to Reading as the local council greenlights key projects.
Reading Crown Court Upgrades
The Crown Court in Reading is set for a makeover after the planning department approved alterations to its ground floor. This reconfiguration aims to create more courtrooms and ancillary spaces, including a new reception area. Most of the work will be done in the newer part of the court, built in the 1990s. These changes are part of a larger upgrade initiative that started last December and received final approval on September 30.
New Five Guys at The Oracle Riverside
Exciting news for food lovers! A new Five Guys is coming to The Oracle Riverside, taking over the old All Bar One unit. The council approved the conversion, but with a catch: Five Guys must implement an odour management plan to handle cooking smells. This plan includes keeping a maintenance logbook and ensuring all cleaning is documented for health inspections. The plan was given the green light on September 25.
Former Surgery to Become Family Home
In another local development, a former doctor’s surgery on Eldon Road is being transformed into a family home. With the surgery now relocated to Melrose Surgery, the historic building will be converted into a four-bedroom house, complete with parking for two cars. Planning officer Nathalie Weekes noted that the closure of the surgery was justified since patients can now access a larger facility that offers better services.
