West Berkshire has found some financial wiggle room in its budget to help care leavers, recognising they often face significant financial and emotional challenges as they move into independent living.
It is proposing that West Berkshire Council introduces a policy to give a 100 per cent council tax discount to all care leavers living in the district until their 25th birthday. The discount would apply regardless of tenancy type or whether the care leaver lives alone or with others.
