The MP for Wokingham has secured a new role as a Liberal Democrat party whip in Parliament.
The MP for Wokingham, Clive Jones, has landed a new gig as a Liberal Democrat party whip in Parliament.
Sir Ed Davey, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, has appointed him to ensure fellow MPs are present for votes and adhere to party discipline. Previously, Mr Jones served as the party's trade spokesperson.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Mr Jones said: “I’m looking forward to undertaking this new role as a whip and supporting colleagues in their roles as MPs. Whips in the Lid Dems have a pastoral role as well, it is really about supporting colleagues.”
During his time as trade spokesperson, one of his final acts was a speech at the Liberal Democrat conference in Bournemouth, where he advocated for small hospitality businesses in Wokingham to be exempt from national insurance contributions (NIC) increases.
