Changes to DIY waste rules at recycling centres serving Wokingham, Reading and Bracknell Forest came into effect on Monday.
Residents can now take 400 litres or four bulky items in a single visit, up from 100 litres or one bulky item in a four-week period.
That means bigger DIY jobs can be cleared in one trip, cutting journeys and freeing up booking slots.
Councillor Stephen Newton, Wokingham Borough Council's executive member for waste and recycling, announced the change during a full council meeting on Thursday, October 22.
"I'm pleased to inform council that from this Monday the limit will be increased to 400 litres or four bulky items in a four-week period, reducing the visits needed to get rid of bulky waste."
"This change will obviously be a great benefit to residents who are engaged in DIY at home and will free up slots previously used for repeat visits."
Wokingham, Reading and Bracknell Forest are part of the re3 waste partnership, which runs household waste recycling centres in Reading and Bracknell that residents of all three councils can use.
