Plans to extend an adult social care home in Bucklebury have been approved. The Chapel Row scheme adds room for three more residents with two standalone supported living units and a new staff building, and will convert the activities building into a self-catering unit linked to the care facility.
West Berkshire Council's eastern area planning committee highlighted the Berkshire Act, 1986, which allows the council to recover the cost of repairing any damage to the footway, cycleway or grass verge caused by building work.
The approval includes conditions to protect a public bridleway by the site. Visitors must be told they will be driving along the bridleway, drive with caution and give way to pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians at all times.
Nothing about the development or construction must encroach on or harm the bridleway, which must remain open for public use. No alteration of the right of way's surface is allowed without prior written consent from the rights of way officer.
