Groundworks are underway at the Select Car Leasing Stadium pitch, home of Reading FC. Club footage, apparently drone-shot, shows vehicles on site as work begins to improve the playing surface.
The club says fans can expect "a major summer of investment" with more updates due in the coming weeks. Exploratory works were done in November, and the latest video was posted on Monday, May 11.
Chairman Rob Couhig said: "Our groundstaff do a fantastic job, and by carrying out this exploratory work now - without causing any disruption to what is already an excellent playing surface - we can set ourselves up for a smoother and more efficient process in the summer, whatever the final scope of works may be."
The current phase follows the 2025/26 season, which ended on Sunday, May 3, with Reading finishing 12th in League One. The full pitch reconstruction will take place in the summer off-season ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, which begins on Friday, August 14.
It will be Reading's fourth year in League One after relegation from the Championship in 2022/23; the league has 24 teams, with Exeter City, Port Vale, Rotherham United and Northampton Town relegated to League Two.
