Five lorry drivers have been fined for breaking weight limits in West Berkshire after routine checks by the Public Protection Partnership (PPP).
Mill Lane in Newbury has a 7.5-tonne limit. On 8 October 2025 a member of the public spotted an 18-tonne HGV there and sent photos to the PPP. The driver pleaded guilty and was fined £216, ordered to pay £180 towards prosecution costs and an £86 victim surcharge.
Three more lorries were caught in Thornford Road and Crookham Hill; guilty pleas led to fines of £176, £250 and £192.
The PPP delivers environmental health, licensing and trading standards for West Berkshire Council and Bracknell Forest Council.
