KFC in Reading Seeks Late-Night Licence

A KFC on Shinfield Road in Reading has applied to Reading Borough Council to stay open until 3am each night if the bid is successful. The outlet has occupied a former house on the route since the 1990s and sells its familiar fried chicken, fries and sides.

It sits on a main route into and out of Reading, near the busy junction with Elm Road into Earley.

The KFC is currently open from 10am, closing at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 11pm Sunday to Thursday. Deliveries are available via JustEat, UberEats and Deliveroo from 10am to 11.45pm.

A statutory consultation on the application is live. You can comment by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for responses is Thursday, September 10.

The Shinfield Road branch had a refresh from previous red and white branding to black, red and white in July last year.

KFC has six outlets in the Reading area, including Broad Street, the Reading Retail Park in Oxford Road, Forbury Retail Park, Reading Gate Retail Park and the Chalfont Way District Centre in Lower Earley. The 3am sales application follows other hour extension bids for KFCs elsewhere in England.
