Fat Twins and Kaspas Desserts, which opened at The Granby Tavern in Cemetery Junction in December 2021, have applied to stay open until 3am each night.
Fat Twins is a franchise specialising in burgers, signature sauces and loaded fries and has been referred to as a halal version of McDonald's. Kaspas sells ice cream, waffles, shakes and sweets.
The operators have applied to Reading Borough Council for a late-night refreshment licence so they can process deliveries for people after hours. Customers can order through JustEat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
After 11pm businesses require a licence to sell food and hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks. A statutory consultation is currently live - email licensing@reading.gov.uk to respond. The deadline for comments closes on Tuesday, July 21.
The 3am bid follows a successful application last August to stay open until midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The Granby building was previously an LGBTQ+ pub until 2012, reopened as Sprinkles Gelato in December 2016 and, reports say, closed during the coronavirus lockdowns in 2020 and never reopened.
