Reading's independent cinema, The Biscuit Factory at Broad Street Mall, could host late screenings and night-time entertainment under a new application.
The venue opened in July 2021 and was rescued in January last year after the original operator, the Really Local Group, went into administration. It is now run by RIENT Ltd and currently open 10am to 11pm Tuesday to Sunday.
Its website says it opens on Mondays for bank holidays and during school holidays, and hosts Quiz Mondays in the foyer upstairs from 5pm to 10pm.
RIENT Ltd has applied to keep some activities going until 1am.
Proposed film showings would start at 10.30am Monday to Saturday and 11am on Sundays, running until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The business wants to host live music from 4pm Monday to Saturday, ending at 11pm Monday to Thursday and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays; live music would run 3pm to 11pm on Sundays.
Recorded music is proposed from 8am Monday to Saturday, finishing at midnight Monday to Thursday and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 8am to 11pm on Sundays.
Alcohol would be sold from 10.30am Monday to Saturday and 11am on Sundays until 11pm each night, with food and soft drinks sold until midnight on Thursdays.
The increase in these activities is in a licensing application to Reading Borough Council. A statutory consultation is live - email licensing@reading.gov.uk by Monday, May 25 to respond.
