A shop near the Reading Festival site can now sell alcohol until midnight. Premier convenience store on Caversham Road, a 10-minute walk from the festival's main entrance, opened in 2023.
Reading Borough Council approved the licence change after a statutory consultation that ended on Friday 4 August, allowing sales from 6am to midnight each day. Previously alcohol could only be sold until 11pm.
It means staff can sell drinks to festival-goers entering and leaving the site. Revellers can take drinks into the campsite but not into the arena, where drinks must be purchased from permitted bars.
It also allows sales until midnight all year and grocery deliveries via the Deliveroo app.
The building was previously home to Thames Valley Printers & Cartridges Ltd, which had closed by April 2023. Nimal & Sons converted it into the convenience store and had initial permission to sell alcohol from 6am to 11pm.
Caversham Road is one of the town's busiest streets. Premier sits near the Caversham Bridge roundabout, opposite the Village Hotel.
