Big Fella Brewing has been given the green light to sell beer and host events at Lockey Farm in Arborfield Cross.
The new venture first appeared on Instagram in March. Founders Greg Mizon and Alex Rowley plan to specialise in pale ales and East Coast-style IPAs once brewing starts.
Their Instagram has tracked the kit purchases and the search for a site before settling on Lockey Farm.
Wokingham Borough Council approved the licence to sell alcohol and host live and recorded music from 10am to 10.30pm Monday to Saturday, and 12pm to 7.30pm on Sundays. It is understood the licence was approved on Monday, August 24.
"We're absolutely buzzing to have the licence granted. It's a huge milestone for us, and after months of planning, paperwork and building, it feels like Big Fella is properly becoming real now.
"There's still a fair bit to get done before we throw the doors open, but every day the place is looking more and more like the brewery and taproom we've had in our heads for so long.
"The support we've had already has been amazing, especially locally, and we seriously can't wait to get the first beers pouring and have people in enjoying the place rather than us just constantly talking about what it's going to be!"
The company already has a website with an about page, Q&As, an events section and a shop. For now the only item on sale is a branded corduroy rope hat; that will change once production begins.
Rowley also owns The Hive craft beer and coffee shop at Duke's Ride in Crowthorne. The pair were recently featured in The Times, discussing what it takes to open a brewery today.
The British craft brewing market is starting to stabilise after its early-2010s boom and the post-pandemic contraction. Local names that have closed include Wild Weather Ales and Phantom Brewing Company.
