A fuel station on the border between Earley and Woodley at Shepherd's Hill is set for changes to improve the experience for drivers.
Shepherd's Hill is a main junction on the A4, linking Reading and Maidenhead, and connects Pitts Lane (Earley) with Reading Road (Woodley).
The junction includes the Shepherds House pub, Majestic Wine, Wenzel's Bakery and an M&S Food Hall, plus the M&S fuel station officially known as the Sonning Cutting Filling Station.
Chargemaster Ltd has applied to increase EV charging capacity by installing three new chargers serving six vehicle spaces. These would replace two existing EV bays and associated infrastructure.
The plans would remove an existing car wash, support infrastructure, two storage buildings and hardstanding. Customers would lose an automatic car wash but gain more EV charging capacity and two jet car wash bays.
The changes have been submitted to Wokingham Borough Council.
According to a planning agent from Bowman Riley: "modernising existing infrastructure, supporting low-emission transport and ensuring the continued viability of an established roadside facility."
They also said it would "facilitate investment in an existing business, improve infrastructure for low-emission vehicles, and make efficient use of previously developed land."
You can view the application by entering reference 260798 on the council's planning portal.
