New Indian Eatery 'Nirai' Opens in Reading!

An Indian restaurant in St Marys Butts, Reading, has been taken over and renamed Nirai. It opened on Thursday 7 May.

The restaurant website states: "For those days when you want bold flavours without the effort, Nirai in Reading is here for you.

"Our takeaway menu features freshly prepared Indian favourites, using time-honoured recipes and quality ingredients.

"Craving Indian food but short on time? Nirai in Reading offers freshly prepared, authentic Indian dishes for takeaway.

"Whether it’s a quick lunch, a family dinner, or a feast with friends, enjoy the bold spices and rich flavours of India from the comfort of your home."

Menu items include chicken, mutton, seafood and vegetarian curry dishes, biryanis, ice cream and more. Takeaways and deliveries are available via the Nirai website.

The business comes from Camberley and has been trading since 2021. The preceding restaurant, Biryani Mama, lasted for around four years after opening in early 2022 and underwent a rebrand and a renovation from July to September last year.

The restaurant space was created after Ask Italian closed during the coronavirus pandemic. Building owner Warrant Investments Plc won planning permission to divide it into two restaurants in March 2021, and Zia Lucia opened in April 2024.
