Sandhurst has a new mayor. Councillor Graham Birch was formally appointed last week and says his year will focus on connection, kindness and community.
Born in 1979 and a resident since he was two, he called the role a huge honour.
He said: "Becoming Mayor of Sandhurst is a phenomenal honour.
"For someone who has lived in this town since I was two years old, it truly is the ultimate privilege.
"Sandhurst is the place that shaped me, the place that gave me every opportunity, and the place I am proud to call home.
"I know what this role means, and I know the responsibility that comes with representing our town. I will give it everything I can."
Married to Emily, with their son Leo at Sandhurst School, Birch says his family life keeps him grounded in local issues.
He brings a sporty background - playing for Sandhurst Veterans, coaching under‑14s at Pinewood, playing American football at university and being a judo champion - which he says taught perseverance, teamwork and discipline.
His four priorities are strengthening community spirit, improving understanding of the town council's work, inspiring young people and encouraging wider participation in local democracy.
He wants to build a "One Sandhurst" culture that recognises volunteers and encourages neighbours to look out for each other.
"Especially at a time when technology can pull us apart as easily as it connects us, I want Sandhurst to be a place where people still look up, look out for one another, and feel part of something bigger."
Mr Birch plans to visit every school to show young people that leadership "isn't distant - it's local, it's real, and it's open to them".
His mayoral charities are Walk Once More, which supports people with spinal cord injuries, and Thames Hospice, which cares for people with life‑limiting illnesses and their families.
He said he hoped his year would help Sandhurst feel closer and more confident about its future, with residents continuing to shape a "shared future" together.
