Newbury Town FC Pitch Passes Key Inspection

Faraday Road football pitch - the home of Newbury Town FC - has passed its pitch inspection by the FA and is now eligible to play at the next level.

"We are delighted to announce that our ground has successfully passed the grading inspection.," wrote the club on its social media.

"A hugh thank you to everyone who has played a part in this journey, from the volunteers and staff to all who have supported us at every home game.

"We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to West Berkshire Council for their continued support in helping us bring the facility up to the required standard."

The council has added another stand area to ensure seating and standing capacity will pass Step 6, and last week passed the permission for floodlights to be installed.

Step 6 is the Grade 7/6 (or Category G/H) standard required by the FA for clubs at Level 10 of the English football pyramid. These grounds generally include floodlights, a spectator capacity, secured perimeter fencing and basic amenities such as covered standing for at least 50 to 100 people.

Newbury Town FC has applied for promotion from the Thames Valley Premier League (Step 7) to Step 6 for the 2026/27 season, but promotion is not guaranteed. To go up, they must finish in the top five and meet specific ground grading requirements, including floodlights.
