A ‘Diwalloween’ fusion event to mark two autumn festivals has been celebrated in Reading.
A ‘Diwalloween’ fusion event to celebrate Diwali and Halloween was held in Reading.
The festivities took place at the Green Park Conference Centre, featuring street food, performances, a haunted house for kids, stalls, and a raffle.
Attendees included councillor Alice Mpofu-Coles (Labour, Whitley), the Mayor of Reading.
Photos captured vibrant dancers in traditional Indian attire alongside children dressed up as their favourite characters.
The event was sponsored by Akoni Technologies, which hosted it at their office on Longwater Avenue.
Diwalloween raised funds for two charities: ReadiFood, the local food bank, and My Cancer My Choices, which supports those living with cancer.
Akoni stated, “At Akoni, we believe business should go beyond profits — it should make a positive difference. ‘Diwalloween’ is our way of celebrating diversity, kindness, and community spirit.”
The event took place on Friday, October 24.
While the exact origin of the idea is unclear, a family film called ‘Diwal’Oween’ from New York explores this unique festival combination.
