Traffic measures around Springfield Primary School in Barton Road, Tilehurst are being made permanent under a Car Free School Street scheme.
West Berkshire Council has published a consultation and will introduce ANPR enforcement to improve compliance. The daily restriction period will be reduced to 45 minutes to better align with school start and finish times.
Monitoring and community engagement will continue, with work to progress a community parking solution.
A Car Free School Street restricts motorised traffic at drop-off and pick-up times; exemptions apply for local residents and those with particular needs.
Springfield was chosen because of ongoing parking problems raised by residents and the school, and it ranked second in the council's initial expression of interest survey.
The aim is to discourage car trips to school and encourage walking, cycling and scooting to create a safer, healthier environment.
