A GMB union member has won £15k at a remedy hearing after winning her case at a tribunal in August. She resigned after racial harassment at West Berkshire Council.
She worked for West Berkshire Council for a year before suffering racial abuse and was rebuked by management for her response to the treatment.
David McMullen, GMB senior organiser, said: "This member was treated horrendously in the first instance and this was further compounded by management at West Berkshire Council."
"GMB members can rest assured that we will work tirelessly to protect you and stand up for you and your rights."
West Berkshire Council said: "We respect the findings of the tribunal and will reflect carefully on the points raised."
"The safety and wellbeing of our staff is extremely important to us. We do not accept abuse, discrimination or harassment directed towards our employees and we are committed to supporting colleagues when incidents occur."
