Bracknell politicians have urged developers to add immediate safety measures in Jennett's Park after parents reported "near misses" and a child was recently skimmed by a car but not hurt.
The estate is still the responsibility of housing developers Persimmon and Baratt Redrow, though it is expected to receive funding for a crossing next year when Bracknell Forest adopts it.
MP Stephen O'Regan and councillors Georgia Pickering and Kathryn Neil have asked the developers to install interim safety measures.
The team told the developers: "The 'near misses' have been brought to our attention by worried parents, which we have logged with Bracknell Forest Council, and in recent weeks a child was involved in an incident, although thankfully was not hurt."
"We are pleased to report that as part of the council's ongoing Safer Routes to School initiative, Sparrowhawk Way adjacent to the Jennetts Park Primary School will be receiving an improvement scheme in the financial year 2027/2028.
"This scheme is currently being developed and will involve the introduction of a 20mph zone with associated traffic calming and a pedestrian crossing.
"This will be funded through council's annual highway works programme.
"In the meantime, whilst the final steps of road adoption by the council take place, we are liaising with the developer regarding some improved signs and road markings to encourage safer driving behaviours".
They have called for: "SLOW" road markings on the three approaches to the vicinity;
Yellow backed school warning signs on the roads leading to the school; Localised give-way markings at the points where the roads adjoin; and "pedestrians crossing" signs on the approach to a lowered kerb.
