Waitrose has withdrawn a plan to sell alcohol 24/7 at its Caversham supermarket after submitting a licensing application to Reading Borough Council last month.
The council held a statutory consultation, and a licensing officer confirmed the application was withdrawn on Monday 13 April.
That means delivery hours will stay 7am-10pm daily - timings the store confirmed about 10 weeks ago.
Deliveries are via scheduled home delivery (online orders with a £40 minimum) or rapid services such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats or Just Eat. In‑store opening hours are 8am-9pm weekdays, 8am-8pm Saturdays and 10am-4pm Sundays.
Waitrose sells a range of beers and wines, including its Own‑Label, No.1 and 'Only at Cellar' exclusives. The company has been contacted for comment.
Separate applications for 24‑hour sales have been made at Waitrose branches in Horsham and York. The company is headquartered in Bracknell, has more than 320 stores across the UK and also has supermarkets on Oxford Road, in Tilehurst and Woodley town centre.
