The price of leisure centre membership in Woodley could soon be increased.
The price of leisure centre membership in Woodley may be going up soon.
Woodford Leisure Centre offers a gym, a sports hall, a 3G pitch, outdoor tennis courts, and a paddling pool.
Managed by Woodley Town Council, the membership fees could rise by £1 per month, bringing the costs to £25.99 for residents and £27.99 for non-residents.
That’s an annual increase of £12.
The hike is partly due to a new leisure management system that streamlines memberships, bookings, and timetables, costing the council £777, as agreed in a recent meeting.
A report notes that the monthly price for gym membership has remained unchanged since the gym opened in January 2017. Currently, the fees stand at £24.99 for residents and £26.99 for others.
The council expects the £1 increase to generate an extra £767 monthly, based on existing active memberships, although it can't predict the effects on cancellations or new sign-ups.
This increase is not directly linked to the new system's costs or the upcoming 2026/27 budget.
The report was compiled for a meeting of the council’s leisure services committee.
