Woodley Residents Choose New Play Area Design!

Residents have picked a favourite design for a new play area on Wheble Drive field in Woodley after a summer consultation.

Of 125 responses, design three by Wicksteed won with 97 votes; Proludic got 25 and EPE three.

The leisure services committee discussed the results and unanimously agreed to go ahead with the Wicksteed plan on Tuesday, September 8.

Councillor Yvonne Edwards (Labour, Bulmershe) said: "We had the open day and I was doing consultations with lots of people, that one definitely came out top with the majority of people, children and adults, so yeah, very pleased."

Kevin Murray, the town clerk, said: "I was really encouraged with the submissions actually, and it ticked all the boxes in terms of the inclusive play as well, those elements for a small project in that sense." "It's got quite a bit."

Cllr Michael Firmager (Conservative, Warren) said: "It looks fun, which is the main thing, isn't it really?"

Following a question from Cllr Danny Errawalla it was clarified that £40,000 will be spent on the equipment.
