Work is underway to turn the old Homebase in Western Road, Bracknell, into a new Aldi and the supermarket has been given permission to sell alcohol.
Drone photos show progress at the car park and the right-hand side of the building where Aldi will be based.
The licence allows alcohol sales from 8am until midnight each day. A licensing meeting due on August 20 was cancelled as a resolution was agreed between Aldi, via its agent, and the objector.
The grant of the application is expected to be processed in due course. The licence will let Aldi sell beers, ciders, wines and spirits, including its Taurus cider range and the Ald IPA beer collaboration with BrewDog.
Licensing in Bracknell Forest is handled by the Public Protection Partnership, a joint service with Wokingham Borough and West Berkshire councils. Applications that receive objections must be decided by a panel of three councillors in a public meeting. Documents on the cancelled meeting have been requested from the PPP by the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Planning approvals cleared the way for Aldi. The Homebase unit has been subdivided so Aldi will occupy a 1,361 sqm unit and another tenant a 1,481 sqm unit. The subdivision, planning ref 25/00535/NMA, was approved on August 6.
Construction is being carried out by DSP Group in two phases. Phase one is an eight-week demolition and strip-out. The second, main build is expected to take 26 weeks.
