Bracknell Car Park Demolition Plans Revealed

Plans for the major demolition of the multi-storey car park on Bracknell High Street are now set, with specific details for the two bridges over The Ring confirmed.

Bracknell Forest Council agreed to demolish the car park earlier this year after it was deemed unsafe; it has been closed since October 2023.

Bridges linking car park to shopping centre will be removed (PA/2026/0914)

The two bridges linking the High Street car park to Princess Square will be completely removed. Councillors approved the demolition in August and a condition required details of how the 'bridge openings' will be secured. Plans show the north bridge opening sealed with bricks and glass and the south bridge finished with an infill louvre panel.

Conversion of new house into childrens home approved (Bracknell app PA/2026/0699)

A new house in North Ascot on Heathway, built last year in the garden of an existing home, has permission to become a care home for up to two children up to age 17. It will operate with three staff during the day and two overnight. Planning officer Basia Polnik judged the use lawful and permission was granted on October 8.

Support for 160 home plan in Binfield (Wokingham app 262189)

A proposal for up to 160 homes as an extension to Binfield, off Murrell Hill Lane on land around a grand house and a lake, has received backing from neighbouring authorities. The land sits within Bracknell Forest Councils area but borders Wokingham Borough; Wokingham Borough and St Nicholas Hurst Parish councils have not objected. The scheme appears on the Bracknell planning portal under reference PA/2026/0831.

'Arkham Asylum' project (Wokingham app 261900)

Changes have been made to plans for the Silver Birches bungalow in Finchampstead woodlands. Demolition was approved in January to allow a modern single-storey replacement; the previously proposed basement has been removed. The site address has been updated to 'Arkham Asylum' on the council planning portal.

You can view each approved application by typing the reference in brackets into the relevant council's planning portal.
