Bracknell Set for 136 New Homes Proposal

A major decision could see 136 homes built next to the Pinewood Centre, with a new access off Nine Mile Ride.

Bracknell Forest Council has sent its views to Wokingham Borough Council, which will make the final decision. The council did not object but asked for more detail on cycleways and for roundabout islands to be widened for cyclists. Crowthorne Parish Council has objected, citing worries about the road network.

Other planning updates for the area this week:

Conversion of a barn into a one-bed home just off Sandhurst High Street was refused on 24 June. The barn sits within the site boundary of an existing bungalow; Sandhurst Town Council did not object.

Plans for the Arborfield Green District Centre are progressing. The scheme will include a pedestrianised high street and public square, 18 commercial units, space for a pre-school, a day nursery, a pub and a community building, plus 206 homes near the Sainsbury's. Details of lighting and visibility splays were approved on 25 June.

Former Michelin-star restaurant L'Ortolan in Shinfield, which closed in 2024, is set to be transformed into a mansion. Permission granted in March covers a rooftop extension with terrace decking, a single-storey rear extension and a new garage with first-floor accommodation. An adjustment increasing the garage height by 0.5 metres was approved on 22 June.
