Bracknell's New Hub to Save Lives!

A phone hub with life-saving kit could be installed in Bracknell town centre.

Advertising firm JCDecaux has applied to install a 'Communication Hub' in Braccan Walk, just outside Costa Coffee. An image submitted with the plans shows Primark in the background.

The hub would include a free phone for landlines, an advertising screen and a defibrillator that can deliver a life-saving electric shock to someone having a cardiac arrest.

"A notable and unique provision of the Hub unit is the integral defibrillator."

"Since 2019, JCDecaux has worked in partnership with the Community Heartbeat Trust, a registered charity that promotes the provision of defibrillators in public spaces, making it the ideal partner for this proposal."

"Cardiac arrest is a real issue in all communities, with over 100,000 hospital admissions each year."

"A heart attack can happen to anyone and anywhere and the survival rate is just 1:10."

"However, the early use of a defibrillator can triple the chances of someone surviving such an attack."

The hub would also offer free Wi-Fi, a touch screen for wayfinding and local webpages, plus USB and wireless device charging.

The proposal has been submitted to Bracknell Forest Council. View it on the council planning portal using reference PA/2026/0375.
